The sampling Device has a protective cap. When the cap is removed, a fitting on the drain outlet controls flow for taking a coolant sample either directly from the sampler, or a hose extension may be attached to the 5/16" male thread on the end of the fitting. Parts are made from rod brass. The inlet is 3/8" thread.
